At the age of twenty five Tim Wildman quit his job managing a wine store in the UK, bought a bright red vintage Moto Guzzi bike and headed to Spain with the dream of working in a winery. He had no plan, no contacts and didn’t speak a word of Spanish and not surprisingly, he failed. Never one to give up, he got a job in a local college teaching English as a foreign language and after a year of learning Spanish, eventually got that job in a winery, which years later led to him becoming a winemaker himself with brands in Australia and England. Fast forward ten years to when Tim passed his Master of Wine (MW) exam and his experience as an accidental teacher gave him the confidence to launch WineTutor.tv the first and only independent online educational resource for students studying for the Master of Wine exam. While filming on location for WineTutor.tv in South Australia he met Ben Dowie and together they created One Third Films. Combining Tim’s passion for organic grape growing and experience as a teacher with Ben’s technical skills as a filmmaker and distinctive visual story telling style – a unique company was born.

Tim divides his time between the UK and Australia, making wine in both countries, creates educational videos and runs student seminars for WineTutor.tv and has a passion for learning about organic and regenerative farming practices through his work with One Third Films. He prefers analogue to digital, dogs to cats, the Beatles to the Stones and at the weekend enjoys Sunday roasts and long runs with Ginny, his Wirehaired Vizsla.

Ben Dowie’s relationship with the camera began over two decades ago, but his love for light and the natural world traces back even further. Growing up on the Fleurieu Coast in South Australia, surrounded by golden light and expansive oceans, he developed a fascination with the subtle beauty of the everyday—a fascination that would eventually shape his career.

What started as a curious exploration of light and experimental camera techniques, shooting short films documenting hazy summer days with friends, soon evolved into Ben working full time as a highly regarded cinematographer and director. Ben’s work is less about perfection and more about connection: the warmth of a fleeting glance, the texture of weathered hands, or the untold story in an unguarded moment. His approach blends authenticity with bold cinematic choices, creating a space where audiences can feel both wonder and intimacy.

Ben’s career has taken him on many adventures across the globe, from the breathtaking peaks of Nepal, to the deepest caves of New Zealand, working on films, commercials, and documentaries that celebrate the diversity of the human experience and the beauty of the natural world. Along the way, his craft has gained global recognition, with over 25 ACS Awards and 8 Vimeo Staff Picks—milestones that reflect not just technical excellence but the heart he pours into every frame.

Now, partnering with Tim Wildman MW, Ben turns a new page, weaving his love of visceral storytelling into the world of wine and agriculture. For Ben, it’s not simply just about capturing the process of farming practices or winemaking—it’s about distilling the essence of human creativity and connection, one story at a time.
